Drug intelligence / Profile preview
YKYY018 is an aerosolized small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic developed by Yuekang Pharmaceutical Group for the treatment of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. The drug utilizes RNA interference (RNAi) technology to specifically target and degrade the mRNA encoding the RSV nucleocapsid (N) protein, a highly conserved protein essential for viral replication, transcription, and genome encapsulation. By silencing the N gene, YKYY018 effectively blocks the viral life cycle. It is administered via a nebulizer for direct delivery to the lungs, which facilitates high local drug concentrations at the primary site of infection while minimizing systemic exposure and potential toxicity.
