YKYY029 is an innovative antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) drug candidate developed for the treatment of hypertension. It specifically targets the mRNA of angiotensinogen (AGT), the precursor protein of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), which plays a central role in blood pressure regulation. By inhibiting the synthesis of AGT in the liver, YKYY029 reduces the levels of angiotensin I and II, leading to sustained blood pressure reduction. This approach offers the potential for long-acting therapy with infrequent subcutaneous administration, addressing the challenge of medication adherence in hypertensive patients. The drug is being co-developed by Beijing Yuekang Kecheng Pharmaceutical Technology and Hangzhou Tianlong Pharmaceutical.
