YKYY033 is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic designed for the prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE). Developed by Beijing Yuekang Kechuang Pharmaceutical Technology and Hangzhou Tianlong Pharmaceutical, it specifically targets Coagulation Factor XI (FXI) mRNA in the liver to inhibit the production of the FXI protein. By reducing FXI levels, YKYY033 aims to provide a safer anticoagulation profile with a lower risk of bleeding compared to traditional anticoagulants, as FXI is involved in the amplification of the coagulation cascade but is less critical for primary hemostasis. It is administered via subcutaneous injection and is currently being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials for patients undergoing elective hip or knee replacement surgery.
