Drug intelligence / Profile preview
YKYY036 is an investigational, chemically synthesized double-stranded small interfering RNA (siRNA) conjugated to an N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) ligand. Developed by Youcare Pharmaceutical Group and its subsidiaries, Beijing Youcare Kechuang Pharmaceutical Technology and Hangzhou Tianlong Pharmaceutical, YKYY036 is designed to target and degrade the mRNA of the inhibin subunit beta E (INHBE) gene in hepatocytes. This silencing of INHBE suppresses the translation of the INHBE protein and reduces the production of homodimeric Activin E, a novel metabolic regulator. By modulating adipose tissue biology through the INHBE-ALK7 pathway, YKYY036 promotes fat mobilization and increases energy expenditure, offering a differentiated mechanism for weight management that does not rely on appetite suppression or cause muscle loss. It is administered subcutaneously and is designed for long-acting weight loss with a potential dosing frequency of twice a year. In October 2026, YKYY036 received clinical trial clearances from both China's NMPA and the US FDA (IND 183361) for the treatment of obesity or overweight.
