YLG-1 is a chlorin-based photosensitizer developed by Shijiazhuang Yiling Pharmaceutical for use in photodynamic therapy (PDT). As a derivative of chlorin e6, YLG-1 is designed to accumulate in tumor tissues and, upon excitation by specific wavelengths of laser light, facilitate the production of singlet oxygen and other reactive oxygen species (ROS). This process leads to direct tumor cell necrosis and apoptosis, as well as the induction of immunogenic cell death (ICD). The resulting release of damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs), such as calreticulin, promotes dendritic cell maturation and the activation of a systemic anti-tumor immune response. YLG-1 has been primarily investigated in preclinical and early clinical models of pancreatic cancer and other solid tumors, often in combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors to enhance therapeutic efficacy against both primary and distant metastatic lesions.
