Overview

YM7555 is a dual-targeting DNA vaccine developed by Vitruvian BioMedical in collaboration with Dr. Yoh Matsumoto of the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Medical Science and Immunotherapy Development Inc. for the treatment and prevention of Alzheimer's disease. The vaccine utilizes a gene-based approach to deliver DNA sequences encoding amyloid-beta (ABeta) and tau proteins into muscle cells. These cells then express the corresponding peptides, triggering the host's immune system to produce specific antibodies that cross the blood-brain barrier to bind and clear ABeta and tau aggregates. Preclinical studies in transgenic mouse models have demonstrated significant reductions in both ABeta and tau accumulation, including the complete inhibition of toxic phosphorylated tau, without inducing inflammatory responses.
