Drug intelligence / Profile preview
YMI024 is an investigational monoclonal antibody developed by Novartis that targets the interleukin-6 (IL-6) ligand. It is designed to address residual inflammatory risk in patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, heart failure, and chronic kidney disease, particularly those with elevated high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP). By binding to and neutralizing IL-6, YMI024 inhibits the downstream inflammatory signaling pathways that contribute to vascular inflammation and disease progression. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and efficacy in reducing key inflammatory biomarkers associated with major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE).
