Overview

YMN-1A1 is a self-amplifying RNA (saRNA) therapeutic vaccine being developed by West China Hospital of Sichuan University for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Unlike conventional mRNA vaccines, saRNA contains the genetic machinery to replicate itself within the cell, potentially allowing for lower dosing and sustained expression of the encoded therapeutic protein. In the context of IPF, the vaccine is designed to modulate the immune response or target fibrotic pathways to slow disease progression. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1, single-arm, open-label dose-escalation clinical trial in China to assess its safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy in adults with stable IPF, including those on stable antifibrotic background therapy.
