YMN104 is an autologous, whole-cell therapeutic cancer vaccine developed by West China Hospital of Sichuan University for the treatment of advanced colorectal cancer. The vaccine is composed of irradiated tumor cells and stromal cells (isolated from the patient's tumor or adjacent non-cancerous tissue) that have been genetically modified via transfection to express Granulocyte-Macrophage Colony-Stimulating Factor (GM-CSF). This approach leverages the patient's own cellular material to present a broad spectrum of tumor-associated antigens to the immune system. The inclusion of GM-CSF serves as a potent adjuvant to recruit and activate dendritic cells, aiming to overcome the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and stimulate a robust, systemic antitumor immune response. YMN104 is currently being evaluated in a Phase I clinical trial as part of a series of novel therapeutic vaccines (YMN101-YMN108) targeting various advanced solid tumors.
