YMN106 is an autologous therapeutic tumor vaccine being developed by West China Hospital for the treatment of advanced glioma. It is composed of irradiated tumor cells transfected with the gene for Granulocyte-Macrophage Colony-Stimulating Factor (GM-CSF), combined with stromal cells (isolated from adjacent non-cancerous or tumor tissues) and an adjuvant. The vaccine is designed to induce a potent antitumor immune response by providing a broad array of tumor-associated antigens from the irradiated cells, while the locally expressed GM-CSF recruits and activates dendritic cells at the injection site. The inclusion of stromal cells is intended to further modulate the immune response and potentially overcome the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. YMN106 is currently being evaluated in a first-in-human Phase I clinical trial as part of a series of novel therapeutic tumor vaccines (YMN101-YMN108).
