Drug intelligence / Profile preview
YMP is an innovative small molecule melatonin receptor agonist being developed by Beijing Tide Pharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Sino Biopharmaceutical, for the treatment of perioperative sleep disorders. It acts as a potent agonist of the melatonin MT1 and MT2 receptors located in the suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus, which are critical for the regulation of the circadian rhythm and the sleep-wake cycle. By mimicking the physiological effects of endogenous melatonin, YMP aims to improve sleep quality, reduce sleep latency, and stabilize the sleep architecture in patients undergoing surgical procedures, who often experience significant sleep disturbances. The drug is currently in clinical development in China, where it is classified as a Class 1 innovative drug.
