Yoda2 is a small molecule activator of the Piezo-type mechanosensitive ion channel component 1 (Piezo1). It is primarily utilized as a pharmacological research tool to investigate the role of mechanosensitive channels in physiological processes such as vascular tone regulation and mechanotransduction. Research indicates that Yoda2 can induce concentration-dependent relaxation in vascular tissues, including the pudendal artery and corpus cavernosum, by activating Piezo1 channels. It is considered a chemical analog of the first-generation Piezo1 activator, Yoda1, and is used to study functional abnormalities in hypertensive models, such as the Schlager (BPH/2J) mouse, where Piezo1-mediated responses are often impaired.
