yogliptin

Yogliptin is an oral antidiabetic drug in the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor class, similar to other "gliptins" such as alogliptin and sitagliptin. DPP-4 inhibitors work by blocking the enzyme DPP-4, which degrades incretin hormones like glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1). By inhibiting DPP-4, yogliptin increases active incretin levels, leading to enhanced glucose-dependent insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and reduced glucagon secretion from alpha cells. This results in improved glycemic control for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Yogliptin is developed primarily for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
