Drug intelligence / Profile preview
You-Gui-Yin is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) decoction consisting of eight Chinese herbs, primarily used to tonify kidney yang, replenish vital essence, enrich blood, and address symptoms of kidney yang deficiency in TCM theory[1][2][4]. It originated from the classical text "Jing Yue Quan Shu" (The Complete Works of Jing Yue) by Zhang Jingyue (Zhang Jiebin) in the Ming Dynasty[1]. You-Gui-Yin contains: Shu Di Huang (cooked Radix Rehmanniae), Shan Zhu Yu (Fructus Corni), Shan Yao (Radix Dioscoreae), Du Zhong (Cortex Eucommiae), Gou Qi Zi (Fructus Lycii), Zhi Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Rou Gui (Cortex Cinnamomi), and Zhi Fu Zi (Radix Lateralis Praeparata Aconiti Carmichaeli)[1][2][4]. Clinical applications in modern medicine include its use in combination therapy for knee osteoarthritis, early steroid-induced femoral head necrosis, and refractory asthma[1]. Preclinical studies indicate that You-Gui-Yin can induce activity of cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes such as CYP2C9, CYP2C19, and CYP3A4, which may influence the metabolism and effectiveness of co-administered drugs[1].
