Overview
Youkefei (优克非) is a branded generic formulation of sildenafil citrate developed and manufactured by Yangzijiang Pharmaceutical Group. It is a potent and selective inhibitor of cGMP-specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), the primary enzyme responsible for the degradation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the corpus cavernosum of the penis. By inhibiting PDE5, sildenafil increases the levels of cGMP, which enhances the vasodilatory effects of nitric oxide on penile smooth muscle, leading to increased blood flow and facilitating an erection in response to sexual stimulation. Youkefei is administered orally in tablet form and is approved in China for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED).
