Overview
ypeg-interferon alpha-2a is a pegylated form of recombinant human interferon alpha-2a engineered to extend circulation time and enhance antiviral and immunomodulatory activity compared with unmodified interferon alpha-2a. Like other type I interferons, it binds the interferon alpha/beta receptor complex on target cells and activates JAK-STAT signaling, inducing expression of interferon-stimulated genes that mediate antiviral, antiproliferative, and immune-modulating effects. It is being developed as a long-acting cytokine therapy, most likely for chronic viral infections or related immune indications, although detailed public information on its specific developer, proprietary formulation, and clinical program is limited.
