YS245 is an investigational biologic therapy consisting of small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) derived from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs). Developed by The First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University, it is formulated as an ophthalmic solution (eye drops) for the treatment of moderate to severe dry eye disease. The therapy leverages the natural immunomodulatory and regenerative properties of MSC-derived vesicles, which contain a complex mixture of proteins, lipids, and microRNAs. These bioactive components are intended to reduce ocular surface inflammation, promote the repair of the corneal epithelium, and restore tear film stability, addressing the underlying causes of dry eye rather than just providing symptomatic relief.
