Drug intelligence / Profile preview
YST-02 is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody designed to target vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A). It is being developed by Beijing Yishengtai Pharmaceutical Technology in collaboration with Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University, specifically for the treatment of primary central nervous system (CNS) tumors, such as recurrent glioblastoma, and brain metastases from solid tumors. By binding to VEGF-A, YST-02 prevents the ligand from interacting with its receptors (VEGFR-1 and VEGFR-2) on the surface of vascular endothelial cells. This action inhibits tumor-induced angiogenesis, reduces microvascular permeability, and helps alleviate peritumoral brain edema, which is a common and debilitating complication of brain tumors. The drug is currently in Phase 1 clinical development.
