The mechanism of action involves specific binding of the antibody to CEA on tumor cells, allowing localized delivery of cytotoxic radiation from Y‑90, thereby minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue[2][3]. Clinical studies have demonstrated dose-limiting hematologic toxicity and immunogenicity (human anti-chimeric antibody response) as primary safety concerns[1][5]. Developed at Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, this investigational therapy has been evaluated in phase I/II trials for neoplasms expressing CEA[3][4].
