Yttrium Y 90 daclizumab is a radioimmunotherapy developed by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for the treatment of adult T-cell leukemia (ATL) and other CD25-expressing malignancies. It consists of daclizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting the alpha subunit of the interleukin-2 receptor (CD25/Tac), conjugated to the beta-emitting radioisotope yttrium-90. The antibody serves as a targeting vector to deliver high-energy radiation directly to malignant T-cells, which typically overexpress CD25. Pentetic acid calcium (calcium DTPA) is co-administered as a chelating agent to facilitate the clearance of the radioisotope and reduce off-target toxicity. This combination has demonstrated clinical activity in patients with ATL, a rare and aggressive T-cell neoplasm associated with HTLV-1 infection.
