Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yuanhu Zhitong Dropping Pills is a modernized Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily composed of extracts from *Rhizoma Corydalis* (Yuanhu) and *Radix Angelicae Dahuricae* (Baizhi). It is widely utilized for its analgesic and antispasmodic properties. The active constituents, notably alkaloids such as tetrahydropalmatine from *Corydalis*, are thought to provide pain relief by modulating dopamine receptors and potentially other neurotransmitter systems involved in pain signaling. The dropping pill dosage form is specifically engineered to enhance the solubility and absorption of the herbal extracts compared to traditional pill or tablet forms. While traditionally used for conditions like gastralgia, dysmenorrhea, and headaches, it has been investigated by the Gansu Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis, specifically to manage pain and improve joint function in patients with X-ray-staged disease.
