Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yuanhuacine (also known as yuanhuacin or gnidilatidin) is a daphnane-type diterpene ortho-ester isolated from the flower buds of *Daphne genkwa* (Genkwa Flos). It is a potent natural product being investigated for its anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties. Yuanhuacine acts as a protein kinase C beta (PKCβ) agonist, which mediates its selective cytotoxicity against the basal-like 2 (BL2) subtype of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and promotes an antitumor immune signature. Additionally, it has been shown to inhibit DNA topoisomerase 1, activate the AMPK/mTOR pathway, and promote ASCT2 degradation, leading to growth inhibition in various cancer models, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), colorectal cancer, and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC).
