Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yuebi Decoction (Yuebi Tang) is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula originating from the *Synopsis of Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber* (Jin Gui Yao Lue). It typically consists of five herbs: *Ephedra sinica* (Ma Huang), *Gypsum fibrosum* (Shi Gao), *Zingiber officinale* (Sheng Jiang), *Ziziphus jujuba* (Da Zao), and *Glycyrrhiza uralensis* (Gan Cao). Traditionally used to treat wind-edema (feng shui), it is characterized by its ability to dispel wind, clear heat, and promote diuresis to alleviate swelling. In modern clinical practice, it is frequently investigated for its therapeutic potential in renal disorders, including idiopathic podocytopathies such as minimal change disease (MCD), focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), and membranous nephropathy (MN). The formula is thought to exert its effects by modulating inflammatory pathways and improving glomerular filtration barrier integrity.
