Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yufeng Ningxin (YFNX) is a traditional Chinese patent medicine primarily used for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as essential hypertension, coronary heart disease (CHD), angina pectoris, and neuropathic headache. The main active ingredient in most Yufeng Ningxin preparations is puerarin (derived from Pueraria lobata), which is believed to relieve spasm and pain while enhancing cerebral and coronary blood flow. Clinical studies suggest that YFNX can reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure in patients with hypertension, decrease the frequency and duration of angina attacks in CHD patients, improve electrocardiogram results, alleviate symptoms like dizziness and headache associated with high blood pressure or nervous headache (blood-stasis syndrome), and generally improve quality of life. Adverse reactions are reported to be few[1][2][5][8]. It is available in various dosage forms including tablets, capsules, granules, and dropping pills.
