Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yugeng Tongyu Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by Professor Chen Keji at Xiyuan Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is specifically designed for the treatment of coronary heart disease (CHD), particularly in patients who are in the stable phase following an acute coronary syndrome (ACS) or myocardial infarction. The formula is constructed based on the TCM principles of "replenishing qi and activating blood circulation" (益气活血) to address blood stasis, which is considered a primary pathological factor in cardiovascular disease. Clinical research, including multicenter randomized controlled trials, has focused on its ability to reduce major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and improve long-term prognosis when used as an adjunct to conventional Western medical treatments such as antiplatelet therapy and statins.
