yukmijihwang-tang

Yukmijihwang-tang is a traditional Korean herbal formula comprised of six herbs: Rehmannia glutinosa, Cornus officinalis, Dioscorea batatas, Alisma orientale, Poria cocos, and Paeonia suffruticosa. It is historically and clinically used to treat kidney-yin deficiency symptoms such as dizziness, tinnitus, night sweats, excessive thirst, and other age-related ailments. Pharmacological effects observed include anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-hypertensive, anti-osteoporotic, and neuroprotective actions. It is used for supportive management of dementia (notably Alzheimer's disease), diabetes, hypertension, various inflammatory and degenerative conditions, and menopausal complaints. Mechanistically, it has demonstrated modulation of neuroinflammation, enhancement of antioxidant enzyme activities (in particular, by regulating Sirtuin 6 and the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway), normalization of the glutathione (GSH) redox cycle, and improved mitochondrial and immune function[1][2][3].
