Overview

Yunpi Jiedu Tongdu granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by Zhejiang Chinese Medicine University for the treatment of undifferentiated spondyloarthritis (uSpA). The name reflects its therapeutic aims in TCM theory: 'Yunpi' (transporting/invigorating the spleen), 'Jiedu' (detoxifying), and 'Tongdu' (unblocking the Du meridian). It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials as an add-on therapy to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like meloxicam. The goal of treatment is to alleviate clinical symptoms, reduce inflammatory markers, and prevent the progression of undifferentiated cases into classified spondyloarthritis, such as ankylosing spondylitis.
