Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yunpiqiangshen is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by the Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine, specifically indicated for the treatment of advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD), including stage 5 (end-stage renal disease). The formula is designed based on the TCM principles of "invigorating the spleen" (Yunpi) and "tonifying the kidney" (Qiangshen) to address the systemic deficiencies and toxin accumulation associated with renal failure. Pharmacologically, it is thought to slow the progression of renal fibrosis and protect residual renal function by modulating the gut-kidney axis, reducing oxidative stress, and inhibiting pro-inflammatory and pro-fibrotic signaling pathways. Clinical studies conducted at the developing institution have demonstrated its potential to improve renal function markers, reduce uremic toxins, and enhance the quality of life in patients, including those undergoing maintenance dialysis.
