Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yupingfeng Powder (also known as Yupingfeng San or Jade Windscreen Powder) is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula consisting of three medicinal herbs: *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi), *Atractylodes macrocephala* (Baizhu), and *Saposhnikovia divaricata* (Fangfeng). It is traditionally indicated for "deficiency of the exterior" and "instability of Wei Qi," manifesting as frequent colds, spontaneous sweating, and aversion to wind. In modern clinical settings, it is widely utilized for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, asthma, and recurrent respiratory tract infections. The formula's therapeutic effects are attributed to its immunomodulatory properties, including the regulation of T-lymphocyte subsets, the balancing of Th1/Th2 cytokines (such as increasing IFN-γ and decreasing IL-4), and the reduction of serum IgE levels. Clinical research, including Phase 2 trials led by investigators at institutions like The Chinese University of Hong Kong, continues to evaluate its efficacy and safety as a standardized treatment for allergic conditions.
