Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yupingfeng tea (also known as Yu Ping Feng San or Jade Windscreen tea) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula composed of three key herbal ingredients: *Astragalus membranaceus* root (Huang Qi), *Atractylodes macrocephala* rhizome (Bai Zhu), and *Saposhnikovia divaricata* root (Fang Feng). It is widely used to tonify Qi, stabilize the exterior, and strengthen the immune system (Wei Qi), making it a common remedy for preventing recurrent colds, respiratory infections, and allergic rhinitis. In March 2025, Guangzhou Baiyunshan Chenliji Pharmaceutical received IND approval in China to evaluate its proprietary Yupingfeng tea bag as a Class 2.3 modified new Chinese medicine for the treatment of Hashimoto's thyroiditis (specifically to improve fatigue and other symptoms in patients with subclinical or clinical hypothyroidism who have normal thyroid function under levothyroxine therapy).
