Yushuda

Yushuda (郁舒达) is a Chinese patent medicine developed by the Shanghai Mental Health Center, specifically indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) and depressive syndromes. It is classified as a hospital preparation (hospital-made formulation) approved for clinical use within the Shanghai hospital system. Formulated as a granule, Yushuda is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles, primarily aimed at soothing the liver and relieving qi stagnation. Pharmacological and clinical research conducted by the developer suggests that Yushuda exerts its antidepressant effects by upregulating the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in the hippocampus and modulating the activity of monoamine neurotransmitter systems, including serotonin and dopamine.
