Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**YYC506** is an investigational oral fixed-dose combination of **atorvastatin** and **fenofibrate** developed by Yooyoung Pharmaceutical for complex dyslipidemia. Atorvastatin competitively inhibits hydroxymethylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase, reducing hepatic cholesterol synthesis and increasing clearance of circulating low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Fenofibrate activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha to enhance triglyceride-rich lipoprotein metabolism, lower triglycerides, and improve high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. A Phase 3 trial evaluated YYC506 in patients whose low-density lipoprotein cholesterol was controlled with atorvastatin but whose triglyceride and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels remained inadequately controlled.
