YZJ-0673 is an orally bioavailable small molecule inhibitor of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP), specifically targeting PARP1 and PARP2. Developed by Shanghai Haiyan Pharmaceutical Technology, a subsidiary of Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group, it is designed to induce synthetic lethality in cancer cells with homologous recombination deficiencies, such as those with BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutations. By inhibiting PARP enzymes, YZJ-0673 prevents the repair of single-strand DNA breaks, leading to the accumulation of double-strand breaks that trigger apoptosis in repair-deficient tumor cells. The drug is primarily being investigated for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, including breast and colorectal cancers.
