Drug intelligence / Profile preview
YZJ-1495 is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of the voltage-gated sodium channel Nav1.8 (SCN10A), currently under development by Shanghai Haiyan Pharmaceutical Technology, a subsidiary of Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group. Nav1.8 is a sodium channel subtype predominantly expressed in the dorsal root ganglia and peripheral sensory neurons, where it plays a pivotal role in the generation and conduction of action potentials in nociceptors. By selectively targeting Nav1.8, YZJ-1495 is designed to inhibit the transmission of pain signals without affecting other sodium channel subtypes (such as Nav1.5 in the heart), potentially offering a safer and more effective treatment for chronic pain conditions. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials in China for the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia and other forms of neuropathic pain.
