Z018B is an investigational, orally bioavailable small molecule farnesoid X receptor (FXR) agonist developed by Beijing Huibaoyuan Biotechnology for the treatment of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). FXR is a nuclear receptor primarily expressed in the liver and intestine that plays a critical role in regulating bile acid synthesis, lipid metabolism, and glucose homeostasis. By activating FXR, Z018B aims to reduce hepatic fat accumulation, inflammation, and fibrosis, which are key drivers of NASH progression. The drug has advanced into Phase 2 clinical trials in China to evaluate its safety and efficacy in patients with NASH.
