Ad26.ZEBOV (zabdeno) is a monovalent, non-replicating viral vector vaccine developed by Janssen Pharmaceutical (a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson) for the prevention of Ebola virus disease caused by Zaire ebolavirus. The vaccine utilizes Janssen's proprietary AdVac technology, featuring a recombinant adenovirus serotype 26 (Ad26) vector that expresses the glycoprotein (GP) of the Ebola virus Mayinga strain. It is typically administered as the first dose (prime) in a heterologous two-dose regimen, followed by MVA-BN-Filo (Mvabea) as the second dose (boost) approximately 56 days later. This prime-boost strategy is designed to induce a robust and durable immune response, including both humoral and cellular immunity. Ad26.ZEBOV received marketing authorization from the European Commission in July 2020 and has been prequalified by the World Health Organization for use in individuals aged one year and older.
