ZAC-3 is a monoclonal antibody currently in preclinical development for the treatment and prevention of cholera. Developed by ServareGMP in collaboration with Mapp Biopharmaceutical and the Wadsworth Center, ZAC-3 is designed to target the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of both *Vibrio cholerae* O1 and O139 serogroups, which are the primary causes of epidemic cholera. By binding to these specific surface antigens, the antibody aims to neutralize the bacteria and potentially promote immune-mediated clearance. This approach offers a potential therapeutic or prophylactic strategy to mitigate the severe diarrheal disease and rapid dehydration associated with cholera infections.
