Zafamax

Zafamax is a brand-name generic formulation of azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic belonging to the azalide subclass, manufactured by Zafa Pharmaceutical in Pakistan. It is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible strains of microorganisms, including acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), community-acquired pneumonia, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections. Azithromycin exerts its antibacterial effect by binding to the 23S rRNA of the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, thereby inhibiting RNA-dependent protein synthesis and preventing bacterial growth.
