Overview

This is a combination therapy of **zamzetoclax** (formerly known as GS-9716), an investigational small molecule inhibitor of the antiapoptotic protein MCL1, and **docetaxel**, a widely-used, FDA-approved microtubule inhibitor chemotherapy. Zamzetoclax is in early-phase study for its potential to induce apoptosis in cancer cells by targeting MCL1, which is implicated in tumor cell survival and resistance to therapy. Docetaxel stabilizes microtubules, arresting cell division and promoting cell death. The combination is studied in advanced solid malignancies to improve efficacy by leveraging both targeted apoptosis induction (zamzetoclax) and cytotoxic cell cycle arrest (docetaxel). The primary developer of zamzetoclax is Gilead Sciences, and this combination is being investigated in clinical trials (not approved) for advanced cancers[1][2][4][5][6].
