Zanamivir + moxifloxacin is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents with distinct mechanisms and indications. Zanamivir is an antiviral neuraminidase inhibitor primarily used for the treatment and prophylaxis of influenza A and B. It works by inhibiting the viral neuraminidase enzyme, preventing the release of new virus particles from infected cells[6][3]. Moxifloxacin is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic indicated for various bacterial infections. Its bactericidal action results from inhibition of bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV—enzymes essential for DNA replication and cell division in bacteria[1]. This combination does not represent a standard fixed-dose product but may be co-administered in clinical settings where both influenza infection (or risk thereof) and bacterial infection are present.
