Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zaoshihuatan granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). It is specifically indicated for patients presenting with the TCM syndrome of 'phlegm-damp amassing in the lung' (PD syndrome). The granule is a complex herbal preparation used as an adjunctive therapy to conventional Western medicine. Clinical research has demonstrated that Zaoshihuatan granules can improve clinical symptoms, enhance lung function, and reduce inflammatory reactions in AECOPD patients. Its therapeutic mechanism is primarily associated with the modulation of fatty acid oxidation and carnitine biosynthesis pathways, with potential biomarkers of response including L-carnitine, 2-methylbutyroyl carnitine, and L-phenylalanine.
