Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zavegepant is a small molecule calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor antagonist indicated for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults. It is administered as a nasal spray and works by blocking the action of CGRP, a neuropeptide involved in migraine pathophysiology through vasodilation and modulation of neuronal excitability. Zavegepant provides rapid relief from migraine symptoms but does not prevent future attacks or reduce their frequency. The drug was developed by Biohaven Pharmaceuticals and is marketed by Pfizer under the brand name Zavzpret[1][5][6][7].
