Overview

ZB-06 is a first-in-class, non-hormonal, on-demand contraceptive vaginal film. It contains 20 mg of HC4-N, a human contraceptive monoclonal antibody, embedded in a polyvinyl alcohol-based film for topical intravaginal administration. Developed through a collaboration between ZabBio, Boston University, Mucommune, and Kentucky BioProcessing, ZB-06 aims to provide contraceptive efficacy by acting as an anti-sperm agent. The project is funded by grants from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Kentucky BioProcessing manufactures the active antibody ingredient using its plant-based platform. The long-term goal for ZB-06 is to develop a multi-purpose prevention technology with both contraceptive and antiviral activities.
