Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zbtb12 siRNA is a preclinical small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic candidate designed to target and silence the zinc finger and BTB domain containing 12 (ZBTB12) gene. Developed by researchers at Peking University First Hospital, this siRNA is conjugated with lithocholic acid to achieve targeted delivery to renal tubular epithelial cells. ZBTB12 acts as a transcriptional repressor of translocase of outer mitochondrial membrane 7 (TOMM7). By silencing ZBTB12, the siRNA upregulates TOMM7 expression, which in turn restores PINK1/Parkin-mediated mitophagy and alleviates renal tubular injury. It is being investigated as a potential treatment strategy for diabetic kidney disease (DKD).
