ZCPHs is an experimental multifunctional nanoplatform developed for the treatment of ovarian cancer. It is composed of a zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) metal-organic framework (MOF) core co-loaded with polyoxometalates (POMs) and chloroquine diphosphate (CQ), and encapsulated within a hyaluronic acid (HA) shell. The platform is designed for synergistic therapy: the POMs act as photothermal agents that generate heat under 808 nm near-infrared (NIR) laser irradiation to induce cancer cell necrosis, while also functioning as antioxidants by scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) to mitigate therapy-induced inflammation. Chloroquine is included to inhibit autophagy, a self-protection mechanism in cancer cells that can lead to therapy resistance. The hyaluronic acid coating provides active targeting to CD44-overexpressing tumor cells and improves the stability of the nanostructure.
