Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zelto is a generic formulation of rivaroxaban, an oral anticoagulant that functions as a highly selective, direct inhibitor of Factor Xa. By binding directly to the active site of Factor Xa, it interrupts both the intrinsic and extrinsic pathways of the blood coagulation cascade, effectively preventing thrombin generation and the subsequent formation of fibrin clots. Developed and manufactured by Marcyrl Pharmaceutical Industries, Zelto is primarily indicated for the prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, as well as for the treatment and secondary prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). It offers a predictable pharmacokinetic profile that typically does not require routine coagulation monitoring.
