Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ZenGUARD is a proprietary antimicrobial nanotechnology coating developed by Zentek Ltd. It consists of a synergistic compound of graphene oxide and silver designed to deactivate a broad spectrum of pathogens, including bacteria, fungi, and viruses such as SARS-CoV-2 and MRSA. The mechanism of action involves graphene oxide attracting pathogen-laden aerosols while silver provides biochemical antimicrobial effects; additionally, the graphene structure physically disrupts viral and bacterial cell walls. While initially commercialized as a coating for surgical masks and Class 1 medical devices (approved by Health Canada), Zentek is currently conducting pre-clinical research to transition the technology into therapeutic dermatological applications for conditions like acne, psoriasis, and eczema.
