Overview
Zengxiao Jiandu is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) decoction developed as an adjunctive therapy for patients with unresectable, locally advanced (Stage III) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) undergoing definitive concurrent chemoradiotherapy (DCCRT). The formula is designed to provide a synergistic effect with standard oncology treatments while attenuating treatment-related toxicities. Clinical trial data (ChiCTR2000031667) indicate that the addition of Zengxiao Jiandu to DCCRT significantly reduces the incidence of grade 3 or higher radiation pneumonitis and improves the completion rate of chemotherapy protocols. While the decoction has been shown to significantly prolong median progression-free survival (PFS) compared to DCCRT alone (12.0 months vs. 9.0 months), it has not demonstrated a statistically significant benefit in overall survival (OS).
