ZEP-4 is a preclinical-stage synthetic peptide therapeutic being developed by Shulov Innovate for Science (S.I.S.) for the treatment of psoriasis. Derived from naturally occurring peptides in snake venom, ZEP-4 was originally identified for its analgesic properties but has demonstrated significant anti-inflammatory activity. In preclinical human skin organ culture models, the peptide reduced the expression of psoriasis-specific biomarkers induced by epidermal growth factor (EGF) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS). It is formulated as a topical cream and has shown a favorable safety profile in animal studies, with no adverse effects observed at high dosages administered topically or intravenously.
