Overview
Zerotyph is an oral, live-attenuated vaccine developed by Boryung Biopharma for the prevention of typhoid fever. It contains the Ty21a strain of *Salmonella Typhi*, which was developed through chemical mutagenesis to be avirulent while remaining immunogenic. The vaccine is formulated as enteric-coated capsules to protect the live bacteria from gastric acid, allowing them to reach the intestinal tract where they induce a local and systemic immune response. Zerotyph was the first oral typhoid vaccine developed in South Korea and is one of the few commercially available Ty21a vaccines globally.
